1. Information We Collect

When you sign up for our waitlist, we collect:

• Email address – to notify you about our product launch and updates.
• Technical data – such as your IP address and browser type, collected automatically for security and spam prevention (via Google reCAPTCHA).

When you use the Vanihla app, we collect:

• Account information – your name and email address when you sign in with Google or Apple (via Firebase Authentication).
• Content you submit – the recipe links you import (such as cooking videos and web pages), and the recipe content extracted from them.
• Your recipes and activity – the recipes you create and save, and your activity within the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Send product launch announcements and updates.
• Provide early access when Vanihla becomes available.
• Extract recipes from the videos and web pages you submit, and estimate nutrition information.
• Provide, maintain, and improve the app and its features.
• Prevent spam and abuse of our service.
• Improve website functionality and user experience.

We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR) to process your email address. You can withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing.

4. Data Sharing and Storage

• Your email address is securely stored with Zoho Campaigns, our email marketing provider (see Zoho's Privacy Policy).
• We use Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam. This may involve limited data sharing with Google (see Google's Privacy Policy).
• Recipe extraction (AI providers). To turn a link you submit into a recipe, we send that content — including the video or web page and, where needed, its audio, transcript, or on-screen text — to trusted third-party AI service providers that process it on our behalf to produce the recipe. We send only what is needed to perform the extraction you requested, and we do not retain that content ourselves beyond what is needed to return your recipe. These providers handle the content in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies.
• App storage. Your account and recipe data are stored with our cloud infrastructure providers using industry-standard safeguards.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your data.
• Withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Data Retention

We retain your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion. We retain your account and recipe data for as long as your account is active; when you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data. Content you submit for recipe extraction is not stored by us beyond what is needed to return your recipe.

7. Your Choices (CAN-SPAM)

All emails from Vanihla include an unsubscribe link. We honor opt-out requests promptly in accordance with the CAN-SPAM Act.

8. Children's Privacy

Vanihla is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or posted on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
